DIY Spring Checklist

Quick things you can do this spring to keep your unit safe and ready for ski season.

  • BBQs: Must be at least 12 ft from the building, measured from the overhang. New HOA policy coming to align with fire code and insurance requirements.
  • Fire Extinguisher: Place by front door for upcoming inspections.
  • Smoke & CO Detectors: Test and replace batteries. False alarms can result in a $150 security call.
  • Keyless Entry Locks: Replace batteries to ensure access during inspections.

  • Book gas fireplace inspection
  • Clean dryer vent

These are safety and liability items. Boilers and fireplaces must be checked for proper venting and carbon monoxide risk. Dryer vents should be cleaned at least annually, even in vacation homes, to reduce fire risk.
